Welcome to Yarrow Community School
Principal’s Message
Mr. Nathan Ngieng………
We are in the stretch run of the school year, as we move into May and some sunnier weather, hopefully. We have had a fantastic April where many exciting things have happened both inside and outside of the classroom. We have had some very successful events, such as our Egg Drop, organized by our wonderful student teachers, our Grade 6 Victoria Fieldtrip, organized by Mr. Gregory and Book-o-rama, which was sponsored by Mrs. Mallett, Mrs. Gregory and Mrs. Gillingham.
You can also see that the new school is nearing completion, as they finish up in the community and gym sections of the school. As you may have noticed, they have begun some of the work in our backfields, installing the gravel walking path, along with fencing and shrubbery. Very shortly, they will begin working on some of our fields, re-seeding and top dressing with soil. In order to give students, parents and community members an opportunity to see the inside of the new school, we will be holding an Open House on Wednesday, June 27th, as well as hosting our Grade 6 Awards Assembly in the new gym during that same afternoon of the 27th.
We have many more exciting things happening during the month of May, and I appreciate the support we have received from parents and our PAC. From the Purdy’s Fundraiser, to our class and library volunteers, we very much appreciate everything you have done and continue to do at our school. As we get closer to the year-end we may be leaning on our volunteers to help us with the move into the new school.
As always, if you have any questions or comments about things that are going on around the school, my door is always open.

socks.
School Construction is also continuing as planned. We are set to move into the new school building in March, just after Spring Break. Thank you for your continued patience with the construction process as we make our way to seeing our new school completed.
Over the coming year, we are going to look at ways to reduce paper consumption and find new innovative ways to communicate with our parents. Starting in November, our newsletter will be posted online, rather than being distributed by paper. As well, our new website (http://yarrow.sd33.bc.ca) will be kept up to date with the latest school information and many teachers are using it to post important classroom information under Classroom News. I have also created a Twitter account that parents can join to keep up to date with what is happening at the school (@YarrowBulldogs).
It has been a great start to our school year, and I look forward to an exciting and successful year for all students!
